Read the extract below (extract written for this paper) and answer the question. The Supreme Court was created in 2009 to separate the highest court from Parliament. Since then it has ruled against the government in cases such as Miller I (2017) and Miller/Cherry (2019), leading some to claim it has become too political. Others argue that the Court simply upholds the law and the sovereignty of Parliament, and that it cannot strike down Acts of Parliament.
